Matter

$2,300.00

Acrylic, sand, paper, conte crayon, charcoal

48 X 48 X 1.5

On the night my grandma passed away at over 100 years old, I happened to be home alone, which is rare. I turned off the TV to have a quiet moment. I thought about how important this person was to our family and to me. I wondered how much I or anyone else matters in this vast world. I love words, so I looked up the definition in the dictionary.

matter

-is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume

I am matter

-be of importance; have significance

I matter

-an affair or situation under consideration; a topic

Does this matter?

My conclusion is that I do have volume, so I am matter. I am a caregiver to my children, a daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, making me important and significant. If we take the time to consider, Does this matter?, we can filter out what is and is not most important to us and spend our precious time accordingly.
