Passions Inspire
This summer, my son Jackson spent nearly a month at rowing camp. He trained hard, stayed disciplined, and just raced in the USRowing RowFest National Championships in Michigan. He was placed in the stroke seat for four races—the one who sets the pace for the boat. It’s a position of leadership, rhythm, and trust.
He came home with silver and bronze medals and a stronger sense of self. His confidence has taken off. He’s been sticking to his training and sleep routines—not because someone told him to, but because he wants to grow.
Watching him, I couldn’t help but feel deeply inspired. Not just by his achievements, but by the passion and discipline of all the young athletes out there, pushing their limits. Their energy is contagious. Watching them made me think, If they can do that, maybe I can do something great too.It made me reflect on my own path as an artist. There are days I question what I’m doing, whether my art is making a difference, or if any of it even matters.
I found a quote I had put in my notes that sparked this email: (I think it is from Nicholas Wilton, but not entirely sure!)
Just by doing what you love and sharing it with others, you inspire them to have the courage to do what they love. By being yourself, you help other people without even trying.
Whether it's rowing a boat, painting a canvas, writing a story, or simply showing up wholeheartedly… passion moves people. It opens up possibilities.
So if you've been doubting your path, your purpose, or whether your creativity matters—I'm sending you this reminder: It does.
Keep doing what you love. Keep being yourself. Someone out there needs to see you shine so they can believe it’s possible for them too.
with love and inspiration,
Gretchen Ann
