Cardboard and acrylic on canvas

36 X 24 X 1.5

I bought some linen canvas with the intention of finding my inner Mark Rothko. Let's say he makes it look easy. To cover up my experiment, I used packing material from some coupe glasses that I bought. I loved the circles in the cardboard and just started gluing them down. It looked cool, but I got stuck. It honestly sat in my studio for over a year. I just got tired of it staring at me from the corner, so I grabbed my orbital sander and had at it, put on a coat of paint, and had at it again. After I stamped my numbers and played with symbols, I poured gloss gel in the circles, thinking they would dry smooth and shiny. They cracked a bit, which matches the cardboard's shabby nature.
