This chair has an interesting history in the development of mass production. The Eameses, in an attempt to create leg splints for the U.S. Navy, developed a technique for molding plywood into complex curves. After World War II, they applied this knowledge to make affordable furniture. I have found that the most effective way for me to learn history (not my best subject in school) is through art and design.
I have also added four of my hundreds of gouache color swatches, which I made in color and design class.
