This is the beginning of a player piano roll. On canvas, it looks to me like the front flap of a purse. I wanted the purse to have a print, so I used a Burberry bag as a reference. It wasn’t going as well as I had hoped, and I ended up sanding what I had painted. I typically prefer anything I do to have a distressed look.
It’s scary sometimes to decide to take an orbital sander to something you have carefully painted for a good amount of time. However, I’ve learned that nothing magical will happen if you don’t take risks. If it does seem messed up, you can always keep painting over it until the finished product emerges.
